TransAmerica

Writer-director Duncan Tucker's first film, starring Felicity Huffman of "Desperate Housewives" fame. She won Best Actress at the Tribeca Film Fetival, and Bob and Harvey Weinstein subsequently picked the film up as onr of the first acquisitions for their new post-Miramax film company. It is a wonderful, smart funny film and Felicity gives an incredible tour-de-force performance.

Divine Secrets of the
Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The directorial debut of Callie Khouri ("Thelma And Louise"), adapted from the book by Rececca Wells. I did the music in collaboration with T-Bone Burnett. The cast is wonderful, including Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd, Ellen Burstyn, James Garner, Maggie Smith, Fionulla Flannigan, Shirley Knight, and Cherry Jones. There are songs contributed by Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill, Alison Krauss, Taj Mahal, Macy Gray, Bob Schneider, Anne Savoy, Richard and Linda Thompson, and Tony Bennett. The soundtrack is on T-Bone's brand-new label DMZ Records.

The Apostle Robert Duvall writes/directs/stars in this extremely haunting, authentic piece about a Southern evangelist who takes a wrong turn. Critics are calling it the performance of Duvall's career, which is saying something. Exciting cast, including Miranda Richardson, Billy Bob Thornton, Farrah Fawcett, June Carter Cash. Opens for one week only (to qualify for Academy Awards).

(Deep Crimson)
The first film to be distributed in the U.S. by Mexico's greatest auteur director, Arturo Ripstein; it will be released by New Yorker Films after its U.S. premiere at the New York Film Festival. The initial release in 1996 was for Mexico, Spain and France. This is the film that I won Best Music at this year's Venice Film Festival with (it has won about a dozen awards worldwide). I truly loved collaborating with Arturo.
