Date Artist / Location Description
05 Apr 08 The Sanctuary, Chatham NJ Played a set with Roger McGuinn, our first major musical reunion for many years, but not the last! So much fun, not the least of which was getting to impersonate Clarence White on "Chestnut Mare" (I used to play pedal steel on that during the "Rolling Thunder Revue").
07 Nov 07 Beacon Theater, NYC "I'm Not There: In Conert"; a show celebrating the songs of Bob Dylan and the new film by Todd Haynes. I played with Calexico, My Morning Jacket, Mira Bilotte, Jimmy LaFave, Lee Ranaldo, Yo La Tengo, Joe Henry, Mark Lanegan, John Doe, J. Mascis and Al Kooper. Maybe my favorite moment was recreating the steel part I played on the Rolling Thunder version of "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You" with Jim James and My Morning Jacket, who were just amazing.
01 Nov 07 Rockwood Music Hall, NYC Bo Ramsey and I will accompany Pieta at this intimate little club on NYC's LES, as she performs songs from her new CD, Remember The Sun. If you don't know about Pieta, you should check our her website or mySpace page. Bo Ramsey is a legendary guitarist/producer/singer-songwriter (Greg Brown, Lucinda Williams); if you don't know about him you should check out his website and mySpace page.
13 Oct 07 Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt, Berlin Concert with Bobby Neuwirth; it was recorded by RadioEins, so if you're in Germany keep yours ears peeled for it!

02 May 07 St. Ann's Warehouse, Brooklyn Hal Wilner's Rogue's Gallery LIVE. This is a Gala fundraiser for Art at St. Ann's, and the first live show of the collection of sea shanteys, pirate songs and bawdy sailor ballads featured on "Rogue's Gallery" and the upcoming sequel "Bully In The Alley". Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Brian Ferry, Antony Hegarty, Gavin Friday, Baby Gramps, Janine Nichols, Robin Holcomb, Bobby Neuwirth, Jenni Muldaur-- a cast of thousands!

12 Dec 97 Vin Scelsa 50-30 Party
(Bottom Line)
Celebrating Vin's 50th birthday and his 30th year in broadcasting. I didn't post this in advance because Allan Pepper didn't call me for the gig until midnight the night before, when Little Steven decided to join in and needed a violinist. The evening started at 7:30 and went until 4am, and was pretty amazing. Everything from a duet of "Be My Baby" by Ronnie Spector and Joey Ramone to Lou "Mr NY" Reed doing "Sweet Jane", with Uncle Floyd and Oogie thrown in for good measure. There must have been at least 2 dozen acts between the two shows. Mazel Tov Vin!!

(Art at St. Ann's)
I posted this one after the fact; sorry. I sat in on violin with Vic and his "skiffle group" and it was great to hear the new songs (Vic's new CD "About To Choke" is just out). There were definitely some inspired moments that evening.
08 Nov 96 w/ Paulo Braganca
(Art at St. Ann's)
Paulo is a Portuguese fado singer with a beautiful voice and a new record out on Luaka Bop (David Byrne's world music label); we'll be performing it live at St. Ann's. Joey Burns (late of "Giant Sand" & "Friends of Dean Martinez") invited me on to this one; I'll be playing violin, heading up a string trio to accompany Paulo.
08 Oct 96 An Evening With Allen Ginsberg and The Poetry Project
(St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery)
Celebrating HarperCollins' publication of AG's "Selected Poems (1947-1995) and the opening of the PP's 30th Anniversary Season. Hal Wilner is organizing it with Allen; he'll be reading poems from all periods of his work, and there will be LOTS of musical participation. Who knows who'll show up (probably Philip Glass and the other "regulars"; Allen said maybe Sonic Youth if they're in town; it ought to be quite a hootenanny). This is also the release of Allen's new CD on Mercury; Lenny Kaye, AG and I will certainly perform "Ballad Of The Skeletons" again.
