Hi
I have a request please I've been searching the web! I don't know if you composed the music to the movie Tempted? At least you were involved with the sound track? I am after the soundtrack, but not Israel Kamakawiwo'ole singing! What I want is the name of the Hawaiian group (4 guys) singing at Lily's funeral ceremony. I don't even know the name of the song, as it is sung in Hawaiian or whatever their language is! But it is so beautiful, I'd like to download or buy it. Do those guys have a name and did they record CD's ?? When I search the movie database, it just lists Israel's song "Over the rainbow", nowhere is this group mentioned!
You help is much appreciated Thanks Marita

Hi-

Yes, I did compose the music. As for the funeral scene, the song is “Ka Ipo Lei Manu”, written by Queen Kapi’olani, 1890, and yes, it is sung in Hawaiian. I put together a band of local musicians where we were shooting in Australia and we recorded our version in a local studio. So they aren't a "band" per se and don't have any records. But there are some great versions of the song you can find-- much better than ours! If you liked any of the music in the film, do yourself a favor and start out your collection of traditional Hawaiin "slack key" music with Gabby!

1) Gabby Pahanui/Gabby Band "The Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band, Vol. 1"
2) Sonny Chillingworth “Endlessly”
3) Dennis Kamakahi “Pua’ena”

Best,
David

Very Happy Thank you David, you've made my day, I've been searching!
And yes, I do like the music you composed for that movie, it is very beautiul, and that slack key stuff will be in my collection definitely!
A+++++ Marita

David, where can I get a hold of the score for this movie? I am mostly interested in the instrumental pieces that come and go throughout the movie - in fact, it's the only reason I kept watching from start to finish. Truly beautiful!

Thanks,
John

There are four cues from "Tempted" on my "Listen" page. They are under the "Maggie Greenwald" section. If there is music for a specific scene you want me to add let me know!
Best,
David

It's been a little while since I saw the film, but one scene in particular that comes to mind is the one where Virginia Madsen wakes up to her first morning in Hawaii and walks outside to the brilliant scenery. You did several terrific variations of that theme all throughout, and I'd be really grateful for any and every cue you'd be willing to post.

My sincerest thanks!
John

I've added that cue where Virginia awakes in Hawaii. Enjoy!
Best,
David
